Being nominated for Hairstylist of the Year in 2003 by the International Photographer Association, and winning the prestigious “Lucie Award”, Mitzi has come full circle in the world of beauty. Mitzi became a hairstylist in the 1980′s, and immediately began working as a platform artist/educator for Zotos International, one of the top hair product manufacturers. She worked her way up to become one of five members of the Artistic Council, who would dictate the next season’s beauty trends, and teaching them to other hairdressers around the world. Mitzi also leanred to do makeup, and after moving to Los Angeles, began freelancing in both hair and makeup. Among her achievements, Mitzi has worked on videos for Norah Jones, Seal, Jewel, and Sheryl Crow; commercials for Showtime and Coors light; advertising campaigns for the Gap, Lee Jeans, Levi’s and Sony.

On doing both hair and makeup, Mitzi says, “I love creating a whole look for a client. Hairstylist is like sculpting whereas makeup is more like painting. It’s hard to choose between two very different, very creative art forms.

Even though Mitzi has spent 20 years in the freelance industry, her passion lies in her salon work, especially haircolor, and especially at Works of Art Hair Studio!
